Hello My name is David Postlethwaite I am the founder of International Psychology Conferences. I first started teaching Psychology in the North East of England. During my career I have taught in a variety of settings including colleges of further education, community education and main stream schools.

Like many Psychology teachers I more often than not found myself as a one person department. I found this a particular problem because I felt that it was important for my students to hear more than one point of view. It was with this in mind that I started taking my students to Psychology conferences in the UK

Over a period of years I began to observe that the students who attended such conferences generally did better in their A level examinations than students who did not.

When I began teaching here in Qatar in 2007 one of the first things I did was to find out what conferences were available here in the Middle East. I was disappointed to find that there was nothing available. I looked into the possibility of taking the children to London but the costs were going to be astronomical. My Head teacher suggested that if I could not get my children to the conference then perhaps I should bring the conference here.

When I contacted the people from London, Mike Cardwell and Cara Flanagan I really did not expect that they would come, but hey they were very interested and they did! The conference wass well attended by other school from the Gulf area and was well received, see the Qatar conference page.
